How Sirene approaches kitchen design work

Each service starts from the same principle: the brief comes before the layout. Understanding how a household cooks — who uses the kitchen, at what times, what gets made — shapes everything that follows, from the position of the cooker to the height of the upper cabinetry to the choice of worktop material.

The three services are designed to be used at different points in a kitchen project. Some clients come with a layout already formed and need documentation for a cabinet maker. Others are starting from nothing and want a structured process from the first conversation. The services accommodate both entry points without requiring clients to take on more than they need.

All work is responded to in writing. Decisions are documented. The output of each service is a usable deliverable — a written brief, a trade-standard documentation package, or a sourcing and oversight process — not a conversation that needs to be reconstructed later.

Kitchen brief session

Kitchen Brief and Workflow Conversation

A focused session covering how the household cooks, who cooks, and how the room connects to the rest of daily life. The conversation is structured — it covers cooking frequency, storage priorities, appliance habits, and the relationship between the kitchen and adjacent spaces. At the end of the session, a written brief is produced, along with a draft layout and a rough materials direction. This is a working output, not a concept presentation.

Suitable for clients planning a kitchen refit, a new build kitchen, or a thoughtful upgrade of an existing kitchen that no longer matches the way the family eats. Also useful as a standalone session for clients who want a second perspective before committing to a contractor's layout proposal.

  • Written household brief
  • Draft layout sketch
  • Materials direction note
  • Follow-up questions answered in writing
Process
1

Initial exchange by email or phone to confirm the project context and arrange the session

2

On-site or studio session of approximately ninety minutes covering cooking habits, layout constraints, and priorities

3

Written brief, draft layout, and materials note delivered within five working days

Detailed Kitchen Documentation

Full kitchen documentation: cabinetry drawings, appliance and service positions, lighting layout, materials schedule, and 3D views. The package is prepared to a level suitable for handover to a cabinet maker and a renovation contractor — meaning dimensions are verified, finishes are specified by name, and the drawings can be read without interpretation.

Two structured revision rounds are part of the work, and questions through the process are responded to in writing. The package is typically completed in three to five weeks from the first meeting, depending on how quickly feedback is returned.

  • Cabinetry drawings to trade standard
  • Appliance and service positions
  • Lighting layout
  • Materials schedule with supplier references
  • 3D views for spatial checking
  • Two structured revision rounds
Process
1

Brief session (or use of an existing brief if one is provided) to establish layout direction and materials preferences

2

First documentation set produced and shared for review, covering layout, elevations, and materials schedule

3

Two structured revision rounds, with changes confirmed in writing before being incorporated

4

Final package issued, including 3D views and a complete materials and finishes schedule for handover

Sourcing and Installation Oversight

Sourcing for cabinetry, appliances, fittings, and finishes, with shortlists and sample reviews. Site visits during installation, including a pre-installation services check and a final walk-through with the cabinet maker. The service is designed for clients who want their evenings free during the build and would rather delegate the day-to-day coordination of suppliers.

This service works well following the documentation package, or as a standalone engagement for clients who have their own documentation and need someone to manage the build period on their behalf. Site visits are available across Klang Valley.

  • Shortlists for cabinetry, appliances, fittings, and finishes
  • Sample and showroom reviews
  • Pre-installation services check (site visit)
  • Installation period oversight
  • Final walk-through with cabinet maker present
Process
1

Review of existing documentation or brief to understand the specification and budget parameters

2

Shortlists produced for each category — cabinetry, appliances, fittings, finishes — with recommendations and notes

3

Pre-installation site visit to check service positions and confirm readiness before cabinet maker begins

4

Final walk-through conducted with cabinet maker on site to identify and resolve any outstanding items

What holds across all three services

Written at every stage

Decisions, questions, and changes are handled in writing. Nothing is confirmed verbally only.

Client information stays private

Brief notes, photographs, and personal details are held only for the duration of the project and not shared outside the project team.

Fixed fees, no additions mid-project

The fee for each service is stated before work begins. Any change to scope is discussed and agreed before additional work is undertaken.

Materials advice for Malaysian conditions

Recommendations account for humidity levels and daily use patterns typical in Klang Valley homes — not European or generic design references.
